Lion King was a meh
After watching abbreviated versions of Beauty and the Beast, Finding Nemo, and Aladdin - all Disney productions - I had been very pleased with their production and staging. I was looking forward to being immersed in the story and the use of animal suits after seeing all the previews and promotions of The Lion King, only to be disappointed. As children, Simba & Nala were... children! No disguise, no mask, just children performing. All the actors did an outstanding job, but it felt more like a 'human' musical rather than a character musical based on a cartoon. The show was enjoyable, but it didn't meet my expectations.
